USA Track & Field: Allyson Felix, Carmelita Jeter Headlines The Athletes

There's a host of Los Angeles track and field athletes that will be participating at the 2012 Olympic Games. Here's a look at the top ones.

  • Allyson Felix will be a main contender in both the women's 100 and 200 meter races. Felix is originally from Los Angele and lives in Santa Clarita. This will be Felix's third Olympic games, and probably her last good attempt to win Olympic gold in her specialty, the 200 meters.
  • Carmelita Jeter (who also hails from the Los Angeles region) will participate in both races. Jeter figures to be more of a threat to win the 100 meter race as this is her race and holds three of the fastest ten times at the 100 meters.
  • Sharon Day is from Costa Mesa, went to school at San Luis Obispo and will compete in the Heptathlon.
  • Dee Dee Trotter is from Twenty Nine Palms and attended school at UCF. Trotter will be competing in the 400 meters in search of her second gold medal (and first individual).
  • Chaunte Lowe is participating in the long jump; Lowe hails from Riverside and went to school in Georgia Tech.
  • Amy Hastings hails from Long Beach and went to school at Arizona State, and will be competing in the women's 10,000 meters.
  • Brittney Reese comes from Inglewood and attended school in South Carolina and participates at the long jump.
  • Ryan Hall is from Big Bear Lake and went to school at Stanford, and will be participating in the marathon.
  • Jessica Crosby went to school at UCLA, has a hometown of Reseda, and will participate in the hammer throw.
  • Bryshon Nellum went to school at USC, hails from Los Angeles, and will take part in the 400 meters.
  • Duane Solomon went to school at USC, lives in Lompoc, and will participate in the 800 meters.
  • Ronell Mance is from Pomona, is also a Trojan, and is a current member of the relay pool.
