Serena Williams did not suffer the same fate as her sister, Venus, as she defeated Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova, 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday to advance to the second round at Wimbledon.
Williams lost for the first time in the first round of a Grand Slam tournament at this year's French Open, but the win moved her first round record to 47-1 in Grand Slams in her career.
The last time Williams won a Grand Slam was at the 2010 Wimbledon. Since then, the only Grand Slam final she's reached was the 2011 U.S. Open where she lost to Samantha Stosur. Williams is currently ranked no. 6 in the world.
