The 2012 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico will take place on Saturday. The winner of the Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another, is attempting to win the second leg of the Triple Crown. Although the odds will be against him, he is the only horse in the running that can move one step closer to history with another unexpected win.
I'll Have Another saw his odds improve with the recent news that Kentucky Derby participants Dullahan and Union Rags will be skipping the Preakness and Gemologist is out for the remainder of the Triple Crown
From the Kentucky Derby betting favorites, that just leaves Bodemeister, who was the odds-on favorite to win. Bodemeister, if you recall, finished second at Churchill Downs and only a frantic sprint in the home stretch was able to secure the victory for I'll Have Another.
Bodemeister certainly looked impressive in that performance and he is likely to put up another solid run at the Peakness. Can I'll Have Another catch and pass him again? It seems unlikely.
