Players Championship 2012 Results: Matt Kuchar Rallies Late To Win

The 2012 Players Championship featured plenty of movement up and down the leaderboard following a wild fourth and final round of action, but it was Matt Kuchar who came away victorious after shooting two-under par on Sunday to finish the tournament at -13. Calm, cool and smiling on the back-nine, Kuchar ended up winning by two strokes.

Martin Laird, Rickie Fowler, Ben Curtis and Zach Johnson all finished tied for second place at -11 for the event. Luke Donald had a big fourth round to move into third place at -9. Despite leading for parts of the tournament, Kevin Na struggled on Sunday and shot +4, tying him for fourth place at -8.

Phil Mickelson finished in 25th place after shooting -3, while Tiger Woods ended at -1.

Players Championship 2012: Tiger Woods Struggles In Fourth Round

The days of dominance from Tiger Woods appear to be over. If his struggles over the last few years were not enough of an indication, Woods finished The Players Championship with a mark of -1 overall, which has him back 10 strokes of the current leaders.

Woods bogeyed his first hole on Sunday and then redeemed himself with a birdie on No. 2. He double bogeyed the fourth hole and bogeyed the sixth and eighth as well. If there was a bright side to his day, Tiger birdied three on the back-nine to improve his score to +1 for the day.

Some figured Woods would make his customary move over the weekend following a big rally on Friday, but the world's former No. 1 player was simply unable to convert on his few opportunities. He appears healthy for the most part, so it truly is just mental at this point.

Through six holes in the final round, Kevin Na and Matt Kuchar are tied for the lead at -11.

You can find the conclusion of the tournament aired live on NBC.

2012 Players Championship Scores: Kevin Na Takes The Lead On 18, Kuchar Falters And Fowler Excells

Round three of the 2012 Players Championship opened with a three way tie in first, and while at midday it looked like things might open up, in the closing moments Matt Kuchar made mistakes and Kevin Na capitalized, leaving him the sole holder of first place. Things started fairly smooth for Kuchar, including 3 straight birdies at holes eight nine and ten. Things started to come apart at hole 14, where he bogeyed. He struggled with another bogey at 17, and that was enough for Na to catch up with him. Kuchar shot par on 18 while Na birdied, and that left Na 12-under for the tournament and Kuchar 11-under.

Na was simply even for most of his holes, shooting par on 13 of his first 15 holes. He capitalized late though, getting a birdie on two of the final three holes, and avoiding disaster on 17. The other man from the three way tie for first, Zach Johnson, shot 1-over on the day and slipped in the rankings to fourth place at 8-under for the tournament.

The other big story of the day was the rise of Ricky Fowler, who shot at 66 and ascended 14 places to settle at third. He's 9-under overall and has a lot of momentum going into the third round. Na is headed in the right direction as well, but Kuchar is going to have to clear his mind and try to rebound on Sunday, Things are as tight as ever at the top of the standings, so expect big things in round three.

2012 Players Championship Leaderboard: Rickie Fowler Finishes In The Lead, But Matt Kuchar Quickly Drives Past

Round three of the 2012 Players Championship is underway at TPC Sawgrass, and the big story of the day is still Rickie Fowler's rapid trip up the leaderboard. Kevin Na isn't far behind, shooting 1-under through eight, at 9-under overall. Zach Johnson is 1-over, making him 7-under in total and tied for third with Ben Curtis, and Brian Davis.

Phil Mickelson finished the day 2-under to put him at 4-under for the tournament, while Tiger Woods was even on the day and 2-under overall. The leaders are still out there, so it remains to be seen exactly how things will look going into the final round. Stick with this story stream for all your updates.

The Players Championship 2012, Leaderboard Update: Matt Kuchar Tied For First

The 2012 Players Championship is off to a great start and those who shot even or better through two rounds made the cut on Friday afternoon. Tiger Woods rallied to shoot -4 in the second round to move him to two-under for the tournament. Phil Mickelson struggled early on Friday but managed to hit two birdies late to move him to -2.

The story of the day, though, was Zach Johnson. He shot six-under and a tournament-best 66 in the second round to move him into a tie for first place with Kevin Na and Matt Kurchar. Despite not getting much attention from the national media, Kuchar has now shot four-under par in both days of the tournament thus far.

Rory McIlroy struggled throughout and was sent home early after finishing Friday with a score of +4. Vijay Singh and Ernie Els (+2) missed the cut.

The third round of the tournament is set to begin on Saturday morning.

The Players Champioship 2012, Leaderboard Update: Zach Johnson Fires 6-Under 66, Vaults Ahead At -8

The second round of the 2012 Players Championship has had some serious low scoring in the morning in the first two rounds this week as former Masters champ Zach Johnson fired a 6-under 66 to vault atop the leaderboard at 8-under for the week.

Johnson used eight birdies on the day, including five on the back nine, along with a pair of bogeys to claim the top spot heading into the weekend. He currently sits one shot clear of the field as Kevin Na and Harris English finished at 7-under for the week, followed by seven others at 6-under.

Phil Mickelson shot a second round 71 to move to 2-under for the tournament, while first round leader Ian Poulter had a double bogey on his first hole to drop back out of the lead, now sitting at 5-under through two holes.

Tiger Woods recently teed off, those is on the wrong side of the projected cut line of even par at 2-over after three holes. Woods has never missed the cut in consecutive starts in his professional career, which he is in danger of doing today.

2012 Players Championship Leaderboard: Kevin Stadler Performing Well, Tiger Woods In Trouble

Kevin Stadler had himself quite an eventful first round at the 2012 Players Championship. The USC graduate put up seven birdies on 2, 4, 9, 11, 12, 14, and 17 with three bogeys on 1, 8 and 10. He currently sits at four-under, three shots off the lead, trailing Ian Poulter and Martin Laird.

Tiger Woods is struggling. He just doesn't have the feel for it right now. Woods sits at two-over with five bogeys and three birdies, bogeying the first and last holes, two of the first three (although a birdie was sandwiched in-between), and three on the back nine.

Rickie Fowler (from Murrieta) is currently at even par with three birdies on the back nine and bogeys on six, eight, 12 and 18. Brendan Steele joins him at that spot. Kevin Chappell (a UCLA graduate) is two-over par.
