The Masters 2012 Leaderboard: Lee Westwood On Top, Patrick Cantlay Tied As Top Amateur

Louis Oosthuizen looked like he'd be the clubhouse leader, but Lee Westwood battled back after his bogey on 10. Westwood then birdied the par-5 13th hole and the par-4 17th hole to get back to -5 on the day, finishing one stroke ahead of the South African. It was Westwood's torrid birdie stretch from five through eight that put him in this position.

How did Patrick Cantlay perform? The UCLA sophomore finished with a bogey on the 18th hole, but not before birdies on the 2nd, 5th, 15th and 17th holes to finish at -1. Cantlay is tied with Hideki Matsuyama of Japan for top amateur honors. He joins Kevin Chappell as the top LA performers. Fred Couples finished at even par thanks in part to birdies on 13 and 14. Hunter Mahan fell back to even par with a bogey on 11.
