The 138th Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 5. Will this be yet another year without a Triple Crown winner?

The Triple Crown is arguably one of the most difficult accomplishments to attain in all of sports, but it is unarguably one of the most elusive. On Saturday, May 4, the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs will inaugurate the first leg of the 2012 Triple Crown.

As of Monday, the current favorites to take home the race include Bodemeister (9/2), Dullahan (8/1), Gemologist (7/1) and Union Rags (9/2). As the horses continue to work out on the track leading up to Saturday's race, those odds will surely fluctuate.

The last winner of the Kentucky Derby was Animal Kingdom, who became the latest in a long line of powerful and talented horses to fall well short of attaining the Triple Crown.

Here is the schedule of events for Saturday and where you can locate the television coverage:

8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. PT: Kentucky Derby undercard - NBC Sports Network (formerly Vs.)

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. PT: Access at the Kentucky Derby/Red Carpet Special - NBC

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. PT: The 138th Kentucky Derby - NBC
