LMU fell behind in the opening minutes but opened up a decent lead by midway through the first half. Insane plays like this one by C.J. Blackwell sure didn't hurt, either (click to animate):

But the Dons roared back to life in the first half and closed in on the Lions' lead. Entering halftime, Loyola Marymount led by the slimmest of margins. They entered halftime up by a score of 35-34 and grabbed a five-point lead in the opening minutes. The Dons would not quit, finally taking the lead with 11:30 left in the game. It was a lead that they would not surrender.

The Dons will next face the No. 1 seeded St. Mary's Gaels in the semifinals on Saturday.
