Selection Sunday 2012: Time, TV Schedule And More

The Long Beach St. 49ers on Saturday night won the Big West Tournament to clinch their first NCAA Tournament berth in five years. Now the only questions are, who and where will Long Beach State play in March Madness, and what seed will the Big West champs receive? We find out today, with the NCAA Selection Show on CBS. Here is the schedule of today's events.

Time: 3 p.m. PST

TV: CBS, with Greg Gumbel, Seth Davis, and Greg Anthony in studio. Jim Nantz, Clark Kellogg, Steve Kerr, and Jeff Hathaway will be on the telecast from the Big Ten Tournament

For Long Beach State, they have been projected anywhere from a 10 to a 12 seed, and Chris Dobbertean's latest projection at SB Nation has the 49ers as the No. 12 seed in the West, playing the No. 5 seed New Mexico in Nashville. The big question, however, for Long Beach State is the health of guard Larry Anderson, who missed the Big West Tournament with a sprained right ankle. Anderson will be needed if the 49ers are to make any kind of noise in the NCAA Tournament.

Big West Tournament 2012 Semifinals Recap: Long Beach, UCSB Last Teams Standing

The 2012 Big West Tournament semifinals were held at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Friday night. In something that's actually a bit of a surprise at many contemporary NCAA conference tournaments, the entire bracket is going to come down to the top two seeds.

In the early game, the No. 1 seed Long Beach St. 49ers took on the UC Irvine Anteaters. The result was a 68-57 win that you can read about here.

The 49ers and Gauchos are certainly no stranger to one another. Their face-offs in the finals of the Big West Tournament are beginning to become a Southern California tradition. We'll see who emerges with the title and the 2012 NCAA Tournament bid following the Championship Game on Saturday night.

Cal Poly Vs. UCSB Final Score: Gauchos Advance To Finals With 64-52 Win

The 2012 Big West Tournament semifinals were held on Friday at the Honda Center in Anaheim. In the nightcap, the Cal Poly-SLO Mustangs (18-15, 8-8 Big West) squared off against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (20-9, 12-4 Big West). The Mustangs put up a good fight, but the Gauchos prevailed, 64-52.

Through much of the first half, Cal Poly held a lead and was likely entertaining visions of pulling off the upset and, perhaps, the Big West title. But UCSB went ahead 32-31 before the half and only added to their lead following the break. Gauchos guard Orlando Johnson led all scorers with 20 points in the game, also picking up four rebounds and two assists.

As expected, UCSB is once again on a collision course with No. 1 seed Long Beach St. 49ers. The teams will be competing for a berth to the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
