The Long Beach St. 49ers may have been knocked out of the 2012 NCAA Tournament in the first round, but they can take solace in the fact that No. 2 seeds Missouri and Duke were also knocked out on Friday in a pair of historic Round of 64 upsets.
Even though Southern California has no more teams left in the race to the national championship, this year's event is already thrilling and has the feel of an instant classic. The play races headlong into Saturday as the Round of 32 begins.
Saturday's games will feature Thursday's winners duking it out to determine who enters the Sweet 16 as we get one day closer to crowning a national champion.
