Can't say that Long Beach State isn't trying.
A 21-7 overall record, 14-0 in conference. The 49ers have won 17 of their last 19 games and with each loss they've taken a step back in the nation's eye. But they are still there and still fighting.
Even if it is for only eight votes in the AP poll and six votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll. They are the mythical 33rd ranked team in the country in both polls. Hey, at least they'll make the tournament - right?
And it has now been 13 consecutive weeks with the Pac-12 not having a single team in the Top 25 of either poll and with the paltry number of votes the conference received among its teams, the streak will continue until further notice. The California Golden Bears took in the one measly vote to a Pac-12 team. Hopefully, they will be willing to share with the rest of the conference.

The Long Beach St. 49ers lost 14 votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, only able to garner three total as it dropped to the mythical 36th ranked team in the country. In the AP poll, the 49ers picked up four votes, eight fewer than last week's total of 12 which places them 31st in the country.
The 49ers are still the only team in the Los Angeles area to garner any votes but it's now becoming more and more difficult to do so as each loss is magnified as we end the regular season and head into the conference tournaments.
The 49ers' tough 81-79 loss to Creighton on Saturday, which ended a 12-game winning streak, was enough to change the minds of some voters. The 49ers should focus on being as ready as possible for the Big West conference tournament so they don't leave their NCAA Tournament hopes in the hands of the committee.
In the Pac 12, the California Golden Bears' 21 votes is the closest the conference came to having someone ranked in the Coaches poll and they managed three votes in the AP poll. This is the 12th consecutive week there haven't been any Pac 12 teams ranked.

Long Beach State continues to earn votes in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls but can't quite crack the top 25.
