Lakers vs. Jazz final score: L.A. falls to 1-4 with 95-86 loss in Utah

The Lakers were unable to overcome a slow start and lost to the Jazz on Wednesday, 95-86.

The Utah Jazz jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, knocking off the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, 95-86.

The Lakers got off to a slow start, trailing 25-17 after the first quarter. Los Angeles made just 5-of-19 shots in the quarter, including 1-of-5 from Pau Gasol. While the Lakers made just 26.3 percent of their first-quarter shots, Utah made 42.9 percent of its attempts in the first quarter. Los Angeles was better on offense in the second quarter, but struggled defensively and trailed, 51-41, at halftime.

Neither team was able to get much going in the third, as the two teams combined to shoot 10-of-37 in the quarter. Los Angeles struggled from thee-point range all game, but made just one of its eight three-point attempts in the third quarter. Trailing 65-57 after three, the Lakers needed a big rally in the fourth quarter. Kobe Bryant scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough. Los Angeles converted just 33.8 percent of its field goal attempts in the game.

Bryant finished with 29 points, while Dwight Howard scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Randy Foye scored 17 points for the Jazz. He was part of a strong performance from the Utah bench, which outscored the Lakers' reserves, 36-12. Mo Williams and Al Jefferson also scored in double-digits, with Jefferson scoring 18 and Williams dopping 16. Gasol struggled for Los Angeles and finished with five points and seven rebounds while shooting 2-of-9.

With the win, the Jazz moved to 2-3 on the season, including a 2-0 record at home, while Los Angeles fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 on the road.
