The Loyola Marymount Lions nearly had a perfect week in the West Coast Conference. They got their first win in Malibu over the Pepperdine Waves in 13 years on Thursday, then followed that up with a close battle at home against the No. 21 Gonzaga Bulldogs, ultimately suffering a four-point loss.

Pepperdine, in addition to losing to LMU, also fell in San Francisco to the Dons, running their losing streak to five games. The Waves have a tough week ahead, with a road battle Thursday against the conference-leading Saint Mary's Gaels, who are 17-2, and a home game against conference newcomers BYU Cougars.
