The score to beat was 4-0. That’s how badly the Galaxy beat the Whitecaps up in Vancouver a few weeks ago. The LA Galaxy were unable to meet that mark, only winning 3-0. Bryan Jordan was easily the Man of the Match, with two absolutely beautiful assists, and a goal that was waved off with his right foot offside.
Bryan Jordan helped both Robbie Keane and Mike Magee to goals, with crosses that would make David Beckham proud. Neither Keane nor Magee had to move, not even to jump, as Jordan put the ball right where it needed to be. It helped that Vancouver’s defense was quite lax, but still impressive.
The Galaxy had the game in hand early enough that they got all three Designated Players off the pitch. How many of the three travel with the team to Costa Rica on Wednesday is a whole nother matter. But it was exactly the type of win the Galaxy needed with a huge Champions League match midweek.

For most of the first half, the LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps looked like they were content just to play the possession game. With halftime looming, it looked like the clubs were going to go into the locker rooms drawn at nil. That was all before Robbie Keane and Mike Magee teamed up for some English style soccer at it’s finest.
Robbie Keane was able to get into the box at pace, and then he bounced a cross in for Mike Magee who was able to knock it home with a one touch finish. It was a new side of the Galaxy, walking it in from the run of play rather than relying on the set piece or a piece of brilliance for their middle.
Vancouver has taken to shooting from well away from goal, with at least two of their three shots on target coming from about thirty yards out. The Galaxy meanwhile have been holding possession, with few shots except the ones that have to be taken.
Juninho is out with a hamstring strain, and Donovan Ricketts was held with quad tightness. Otherwise the Galaxy are playing their full squad. David Beckham’s passes have been a bit long in the first half, it’s possible his back is still bothering him.
