The Bruins (23-16) split four games this week, defeating UC Irvine on Tuesday before their weekend series with the Beavers. UCLA lost the first two games to Oregon St., including a no-hitter by Josh Osich on Saturday to defeat Trevor Bauer and the Bruins 2-0. Osich had 13 strikeouts and one walk in the pitcher's duel, while expected top five (at least) draft pick Bauer also pitched a complete game, striking out 15.
"Bauer struck out 15 to give him at least 10 strike outs in 10 of his 11 starts this season and he went all nine innings for his fourth consecutive complete game," wrote Ryan Rosenblatt at Bruins Nation. "The junior allowed just two runs on the afternoon on four hits, but Osich was better and Bauer's streak of seven consecutive wins came to an end."
UCLA travels to Malibu on Tuesday to battle Pepperdine, and heads to Eugene next weekend to battle the Oregon Ducks.
UCLA was one of five Pac-10 teams ranked in the top 25 last week. No.8 Arizona St. won three of four games this week, No. 20 Cal split four contests, and No. 21 Stanford was 2-3 on the week.
