Kings Vs. Ducks: LA Prevails In Shootout

It took seven rounds in the shootout, but the Los Angeles Kings were finally able to wrap up the two points, while the Anaheim Ducks had to settle for one point for a shootout loss. Mike Richards' wrist shot in the second period put the Kings up 1-0. The Ducks waited until there were less than four minutes left in the game to tie it up on a Teemu Selanne shot.

The Ducks had an earlier chance to tie it up, on the rebound of a Selanne slap shot. However, the ref ruled that the puck was controlled by the glove and not the stick, and a video review confirmed the call on the ice. Selanne's power play goal near the end of regulation stuck, and the game went into overtime.

Mike Richards' goal was also on the power play, as the Kings had a two man advantage. The Ducks lost two consecutive men to tripping, and the advantage left Richards alone to scoop in the miss after Jack Johnson's wrist shot went wide.

After three shootout rounds it was 1-1 after Jarret Stoll and Ryan Getzlaf scored.  It's not easy getting it past Quick or Hiller, and it wasn't until Justin Williams scored in the seventh round that another shot would go in. It proved to be the game winner.
