Alan Gordon Traded From Galaxy To Chivas USA For Cash

Today the Los Angeles Galaxy traded Alan Gordon to derby rival Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money.

Not to flame the rumors again, but the front page of the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Galaxy made an offer of $8 million to Ronaldinho. With the recent news that Beckham won't be returning to Milan, he possibly made another pitch to his teammate. Most of the Ronaldinho to Los Angeles rumors have been squashed, as he appeared ready to resign with his old team. Since I can't read more than that little bit of Italian, it's possible the paper is just reporting on the nature of the Galaxy's offer, not necessarily a new one. This is all, of course, pure giddy speculation.

It's also possible the move may not be quite so high profile. There have been rumblings lately about the Galaxy needing to find another forward to compliment Edson Buddle, as Edson's current mate in the front, Tristan Bowen has only scored 2 goals in 11 games. Mike Magee has been out recovering from surgery, and with the Galaxy trading away their fourth forward for cash, it follows logically that their next signing will be a forward to help with the push at the end of the season.

Alan Gordon had spent a long time with the Galaxy, making his debut in 2004 and scoring 16 goals and recording 12 assists over his seven-year tenure with the team. He has had one goal for the Galaxy this year, while appearing in all their outside tournament matches.

In other news, Omar Gonzalez was named to the National Team roster for the friendly against Brazil on Tuesday. He'll join Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle on the plane to New York after the friendly on Saturday, and presumably will see reduced playing time in that match as a result. Omar has been a key piece of a lauded Galaxy defense with recorded nine clean sheets in the earl part of the season but has been struggling as of late.
