The Dodgers announced today that rookie Rule 5 pick Carlos Monasterios will start on Saturday against the Mets, replacing James McDonald, who made his only start of the season on Monday.
Monasterios has made six starts this season, and has a 2-2 record with a 5.40 ERA in those starts, although he is averaging just 4.44 innings per start.
The move was made in part to move McDonald to the bullpen, where he excelled last season. McDonald put up a 2.72 ERA in 49 2/3 innings as a reliever last season, with 8.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
