Longtime USC Athletic Director Mike Garrett will be replaced by Pat Haden on August 3, per the Los Angeles Times. Garrett is out after sanctions against both the football and basketball programs in the last calendar year. The move, which will be announced later today, will also include the announcement of new president Max Nikias, a prospect that excited Haden, per the LA Times:
"One of the reasons I was interested," Haden said, "was Max Nikias. He is a supporter of USC athletics and is keenly interested in the school's athletic heritage."
Before his new role at the school, Nikias had been dean of the school of engineering and, more recently, provost.
The official announcement of Haden's hiring also is expected to include the announcement of a beefed-up compliance department for athletics, something Haden said he welcomed.
Haden was quarterback of the Trojans from 1972-1974, and is a member of the university's board of trustees. He will no longer call Notre Dame games for NBC, the Times said.

Newly elected USC president Max Nikias was not done cleaning house today as he is also removing the Heisman trophy that was rewarded to Bush in 2004 from Heritage Hall. The memo also reads that the trophy and other valuables from Bush and OJ Mayo would be removed from the University:
