Clippers Host Thunder To End Homestand At Staples Center

(Sports Network) - Still searching for the first win under head coach Vinny Del Negro, the Los Angeles Clippers will close out a three-game homestand Wednesday versus the Oklahoma City Thunder at Staples Center.

Del Negro took over in the offseason and the Clippers are 0-4 so far, matching their start from last season. Los Angeles dropped its first six contests of the 2008-09 season and is coming off Monday's 97-88 setback to the San Antonio Spurs.

Eric Gordon had 23 points and 11 assists, while Chris Kaman had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Clippers, who suffered their 17th straight loss to the Spurs and will begin a four-game road trip after tonight's tilt.

"If we can focus on defense, that will lead to good offense," Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said. "We did that in the first half. In the second half, we were stagnant with not enough movement."

On the injury front for the Clips, guard Baron Davis is listed as doubtful for tonight's game with a sore left knee. Davis did not play against the Spurs after starting the first three games of the 2010-11 campaign.

Meanwhile, the Thunder will play the next two games on the road at LA and Portland, and are 2-1 on the season. They had a two-game winning streak stopped with Sunday's 120-99 setback versus Utah at home, as Kevin Durant did his best with 28 points and Russell Westbrook chipped in 22.

"I'd rather this happen early than late. It's a lesson learned," Durant said of the loss.

Jeff Green ended with 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Oklahoma City, which shot just 40 percent from the field.

The Thunder won two of three matchups with the Clippers last season, but LA is 12-7 in the previous 19 meetings with the Seattle/Oklahoma City franchise.
